Houston?
Anybody got any info on living there? Job market? Cost of living? Dancing? I see they've got lots, but is it lame like Pittsburgh's contra? Curiosity killed the cat. (But I'm human, so I'll be okay.)

Why Houstopolis? I am curiouser and curiouser. (My first reaction was actually, "Dear god, why Houston?!") I've got friends who live in Pearland and work in Houston, and it's not bad overall... but it floods, it gets at least as hot and muggy as (if not more than) Austin, and the traffic is horrendous.

My madrina lives in Houston, along with a ton of godsisters, and a bigger community in general for Santeria. So I'm considering living in Houston for a year and getting my spiritual juju on. :) I'll review the decision after one year, I promise. (lol) I'm currently undecided but at least my brain will shut up if I gather info.

I've lived in philly remember, if I can drive with them, I can drive with anybody!

Yeah, you can definitely drive in Houston, but keep in mind: these people consider the highway a demolition derby at high speed. :D

Anyway, next time you wanna head to Houston, stop by my area! It's approximately half an hour or so of a detour off of 190. :)

Check out the LJ of delicatetbone - she is of the few people I know who absolutely loves Houston and talks about the cool stuff going on there.

I'm glad you are going to be near your community - and the ocean! I have a lot of friends in Houston, so if you have specific questions I can pass them on.
